About Hurt by Bot
Hurt by Bot is an independent, neutral information site that tracks real-world incidents in which AI systems or AI agents caused or contributed to harm — to people, businesses or the public. It is updated every day.
What you will find here
- Incidents — each with the date, place, type of harm, the AI system involved, the companies named in reports, how firmly the facts are established, what happened next, and links to every source.
- AI agents — a separate section for incidents in which, according to the sources, an AI agent (a system that takes actions with tools, such as deleting data, spending money or sending messages) was involved, whether it acted on its own or a person used it.
- Statistics — monthly trends and breakdowns, with the numbers in plain tables.
- Daily brief — a short roundup of what was added or updated in the previous 24 hours.
- Protect yourself — practical guides based on official consumer-protection and law-enforcement advice.
- Open data — the full dataset as JSON and CSV under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 licence (source titles and linked articles belong to their publishers).
Who it is for
Anyone who wants a factual picture of how AI goes wrong in practice: members of the public, journalists, researchers, policymakers, and product and safety teams.
How it is made
Hurt by Bot is produced by an automated pipeline. Software finds news reports and official announcements, groups reports about the same event into one incident, and an AI model writes a short summary using only those sources. A second AI model from a different provider then checks the summary against the sources, and further automatic checks look for unsupported numbers, missing attribution and names of private individuals. Pages are translated by AI and checked again automatically. No human editor reviews the pages before publication. Details are in the methodology.
What we do not do
- We do not run ads, affiliate links or sponsored content, and we do not sell anything.

- We do not rate or score companies.
- We do not republish articles or images; we summarise in our own words and link to the original.
